Job Summary:
This client is currently seeking an experienced (PE Licensed) Structural Engineer in Georgia, USA with a focus on forensic investigation of storm-related damage and repair design. The ideal candidate will have a passion for diagnosing structural failures, assessing the integrity of buildings after natural disasters, and designing effective repair solutions. You’ll work closely with insurance companies, contractors, and property owners to evaluate damage caused by severe weather, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods, and deliver comprehensive reports and repair strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct forensic investigations to assess structural damage caused by storms, high winds, flooding, and other natural disasters.
- Analyze the integrity of damaged structures and determine causes of failure.
- Design cost-effective and compliant repair solutions to restore buildings and structures to their original or improved conditions.
- Prepare detailed forensic reports, including damage assessments, findings, and recommendations for clients, insurance companies, and legal teams.
- Perform on-site inspections and documentation of damages and repairs.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and clients to develop repair strategies that meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and industry standards during the repair design process.
- Participate in expert witness testimony, if necessary, to support legal claims or dispute resolutions related to structural failures.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in forensic engineering and structural repair techniques.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 5+ years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on forensic investigation and repair design.
- Experience with storm damage assessment and repair design for buildings and infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, etc.) and CAD tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to clients, contractors, and legal teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments, especially after natural disasters.
